Have a Merry Heart

We live in a society that is always on the run. Often times we are busy with a thousand different things to do and we forget the basic and simple things that can make our lives’ sweeter and improve our health as well. One such thing is laughing. I believe that many times in our lives we were not sick but just lacked some good old medicine for the heart. Proverbs 17.22 tells us, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength” (NLT).  In the NASB version it is stated as “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones”.

As believers, many times we are so preoccupied in maintaining our dignity and holy appearance that we sometimes become odd people. We forget to have some good laughs, which according to Proverbs is good medicine, especially for those having achy bones and a sad heart. Do you want to keep a healthy heart and body? Here is the medicine: Have some good old godly laughs throughout this week. Nehemiah 8:10 tells us, “Do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength”.  Don’t let a broken spirit sap your strength; make a commitment to yourself, that this week you will take time to laugh. Have a blessed week and a merry heart.
