Learning to Overcome Fear
When I read Mark 5:22-23 I read about Jai΄rus begging the Lord to heal his dying daughter. I noticed that after Jesus instructed Jai΄rus to stop the fear that Jai΄rus didn’t say another word. He had already spoken his faith when he said “I pray thee come and lay thy hands on my daughter that she may be healed; and she shall live. From that point on Jai΄rus’ faith was set as he obeyed the Lord.
Tolerated fear is a sure ingredient to contaminate our faith. Jai΄rus was not about to contaminate his faith with words of doubt and unbelief and neither should we. If you can’t speak faith just keep quiet. “Fear not” is His commandment to each of us. What are we to believe? 1. G-d has given every born again believer the measure of faith (Romans 12:3-2). 2. You are a totally new creature in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). 3. G-d has blotted out our sins and declared He would not remember them (Isaiah 43:25-26).
No time should we to accept the devil’s lies and especially in times of trouble. The devil’s lie is that G-d is trying to teach us something or that we deserve the part of the curse that is trying to attach itself to our body, finances or relationships. That is not from the G-d we serve! We want to be able to hear His Words of love and His plan for taking us through the storms of life. 1 John 4:18 tells us there is no fear in love but perfect love casts out fear because fear is a torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
As we believe the love of G-d and obey the command of love we will rise to a place where no fear can enter. We are moved by faith. We walk by faith. We sleep by faith. We get up by faith. As we stop the fear and believe the Lord we will learn to cast our cares upon the Lord (1 Peter 5:7, Psalm 127:2). Faith always begins where the will of G-d is known.
Therefore, it is our duty to quit taking thoughts that are not ours to take. If we have negative thoughts we need to rebuke and refuse them. Take authority over your thoughts with the Word of
G-d. We will then see miracles take place! May we trust in the Lord as Jai΄rus did and may many other people be raised from the dead like his daughter.
G-d Bless You,
Pastor Paul Santos
