Love Like That Comes Around Only Once In A Lifetime
I once met some neighbors that were very, very, very poor but there was something outstanding about those neighbors. Despite their poverty, when invited within their home, I couldn’t help myself, but to feel the warmth in the air. The way things were displayed in the home, the joy of the kids playing with homemade toys, the way the couple communicated and looked at each other was almost out of this world. Once, I asked the neighbor, “Mr. Irineus, what is it that makes one feel so good in your home?” He genteelly looked at me, smile and said, “Love my friend, love is always in the air.” I was blown away. And I thought, “When I grow up my home will be just like that!”
Sadly, Mr. Irineus passed away a few years later from a sudden heart attack, but the family moved on. Mrs. Irineus never got married again. Once asked why not, she replied, “Love like ours comes around only once in a lifetime.”
While thinking about this I was reminded of another great love story registered in the Bible, the story of G-d’s love towards you and me. I have read Scriptures such as John 15:9 where we are told, “Even as the Father hath loved me, I also have loved you: abide ye in my love.” Jer. 31:3 “The LORD appeared to him from afar, saying, "I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with loving kindness.” 1 John 4:8 “The one who does not love does not know G-d, for G-d is love.” Titus 2:14 “Who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.” Ephesians 5:25 “Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her.” I am so encouraged to know that you and I are living in a love story, far better, because this one has eternal roots and results. It did not die when our master was crucified; in fact, that was the highlight of His love demonstration. After all, love like this comes only once in our lifetime.
