Let There be Reverence in His House
The Scriptures reveals to us in Habakkuk 2:20 that the Lord our G-d, the Mighty One of Israel, dwells in His holy temple, let all the earth keep silence before Him. Wow!!!! The Creator of all things, is in the house, the temple, the place where we worship, feasting at the prayers and adoration of His people. Psalm 11:4 tells us a similar thing, “The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: His eyes behold, His eyelids try the children of men”. G-d’s throne is in Heaven and yet His temple is among us. When I read Scriptures like these, I often wonder how off we are many times when we come into the presence of our G-d in our sanctuary. Many times it sounds more like a market, then a place where the Holy One dwells. Let’s pretend the He is here today in person, but remains behind the curtain, contemplating and listening to us before, during, and after the service. How do you think He would grade us?
I encourage every member to have fellowship one with another. Nevertheless, let’s keep in mind that this house is His holy dwelling place, and we want Him to feel at home and not depart from (here) His home. So, having said that, let us keep Him in mind, and let’s try to develop new holy habits such as: When I come to church, I will kneel down and spend some time in adoration, communing with Him, praying, worshiping at His feet. If you finished you adoration, begin reading your Bible, maybe the verse in the bulletin, and take from there, after service we always have enough time to fellowship. If you already had your time with Him, and need to make some noise, make it quietly. After all, it is His house; “let there be reverence in His house”.
In Him, your fellow servant,
