      At Your Word

In the gospel of Luke, we read the following words: And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, "Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." But Simon answered and said to Him, "Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net."    Luke 5:3-5.

Knowing that they had fished the whole night and caught nothing, the Lord Jesus decided to check the boys' (Peter, James and John) faith by telling them to throw the nets once again in the sea. Peter did not argue with the Lord, nor did he state about their hard labor all night long, nor try to tell the Lord that he knew that lake like the palm of His hand. Rather, his answer was astounding: "At your word I will let the net down."

There was definitely something special about our Lord Jesus Christ that prompted Peter to react that way. I believe it was the supernatural shining glory of the only begotten of the Father, His radiant and effulgent power that somehow touched people around Him. We need more of Peter's type of attitude in our circles. Many times we abide on the doctor's report, or on the lack of hope in certain situations, and forget that "at His word" a few hours in His presence can bring the results that a whole night of toil did not bring. Obedience has its reward, especially when we remember ourselves that "at His word" a great number of fish (or blessings) will be caught. As long we are acting on, at and according to His word, there will always be great results. May we have the same attitude that Peter did.
