Alone Time that Transforms Your Life Completely

One of the greatest fears of senior citizens, and even senior members, is loneliness. The fear of being alone may become a detriment to what can be the turning point in our lives. During His earthly ministry our Lord spent quite some time alone with His father. I believe that alone time can, and many times will, strengthen our being and even transform us.

Today's scripture is found in Genesis 32:24 and says the following: 'Then Jacob was left alone and a man wrestled with him until daybreak." Like many of us, I believe Jacob was surrounded by people and it was about time to return home. Most likely he wondered about his life - past, present and future. When he heard that his brother was coming to meet him, he assumed the worst and divided his people in two groups. Once everyone was gone, he was alone. That's the time when he wrestled with a man, and this was no ordinary man, because later Jacob called that place "Peni-EI/Penoo-EI," which means "where I saw G-d face to face."

It was a decisive hour in Jacob's life. In that moment, alone for the first time in his entire life, he found himself face to face with G-d. He recognized it, and wouldn't let it go till he was blessed. This shows me the importance of spending time alone with G-d. It is in that alone time that we learn to recognize Him, and even wrestle for our blessings and total transformation. It may very well be the time that we graduate like Jacob from cheater to Israel, prince of G-d. Have you had time alone with Him lately?
