Move Over Mountain

In Mark 11:22-24 we read one of the most powerful promises in the Bible, “And Jesus answering saith unto them, have faith in G-d. Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou taken up and cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that what he saith cometh to pass; he shall have it. Therefore I say unto you, all things whatsoever ye pray and ask for, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

Yet, this is one of the most widely misquoted, misunderstood, and misused scripture in the whole New Testament. We are instructed by our Master to have faith in G-d, our source of everything. If we could only grasp that concept, half of our problems would be solved. Things will start happening when our faith is centered in G-d, because it is through Him that miracles take place. Then we are instructed not to doubt in our hearts, but stick with our firm belief that supernatural things will happen through our faith in G-d, and mountains shall be removed out of the way.

It is interesting that a limit is set on the size of our faith (minuscule, mustard seed size type of faith) in Mathew 17:20 where the lousy mountain shows up again, but there is no limitation or restriction on how many hundreds of thousands of tons of gravel or rocky material that can be removed by an unwavering heart. It is not the quantity of faith, rather the quality of it. It is the unwavering faith as small as a mustard seed that will cause things to happen. A question may arise, “How do we get this kind of faith?”  In Matthew 17:20 we are told by the Lord Jesus: “…If you…” which involves the element of choice on our part, “shall say unto this mountain!”  We have to come to that point of resolution in our heart that we will believe without doubting. That’s how we will get this kind of faith. Is it easy? Not all the time. Is it attainable or even possible? ABSOLUTELY!!!!! Will it take some time to get there? Most likely, but not forever!! Are we ready to embark on this journey? If the answer is yes, get ready to start commanding: MOVE OVER MOUNTAIN!!!
