If We Would Only Listen!

In a world where everybody is seeking financial security, well being, long life and all the good stuff that we think makes life sweet, it would pay to keep a close eye on what the Lord is trying to say to our generation. G-d’s Word is eternal and unchangeable as the Lord Himself.  He is giving a hint to our generation in Jer. 7:23,   “But this is what I commanded them, saying, Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you that it may be well with you.”

Do you hear the yearning of G-d’s heart in this verse? He desires for us to do what He says because He wants us to do well. He yearns to be our G-d? It is His supreme will to make us His people and give us the security that many are seeking at their jobs or on Wall Street. True well being and true wealth comes not from piling up millions of dollars in a bank account, or super achievement in our careers, or overloading ourselves with all kinds of entertainment. No! True well being comes when we obey the voice of our G-d; it comes when we walk in all His ways. Then we will experience true well being and true wealth. There is nothing wrong in doing well in our careers, or piling up some solid wealth, or even indulging ourselves with some holy entertainment, as long it does not prevent us from walking in His ways, or hearing His voice.

Despite of the world economical condition today, we can still enjoy true well being! Maybe it would be smart just to take a hint from G-d Himself through His Word.   Maybe we need to shift our priorities. Why don’t we try Him for the next twelve months and see if indeed He will do what He said He will in His word? Maybe then all of us will experience true wealth, and well being. Ahh, if we would only listen!

In His service, your fellow servant,
