Knowing Your Destiny
The Apostle Paul knew the power of his calling. He knew his destiny and understood that G-d had called him from his mother’s womb. Before his birth, G-d planned that Paul would reveal Christ through his life and preach the plan of salvation to the Gentile world. It was a great calling that required an enormous amount of determination and faith. We read in Galatians 1:15-19 the following, “But when it pleased G-d, Who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by His grace, to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the heathen; immediately I confer not with flesh and blood. Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days. But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord’s brother.
Why didn’t Paul feel the need to consult flesh and blood? It is because he understood it did not matter what other people thought about him. G-d’s call on his life was something planned by the Lord while he was still in his mother’s womb. He understood that it was up to him alone to recognize and start to do what he was called for.
He was not confused either. He knew what G-d wanted from him: “Reveal His Son in me.” He understood his calling: “That I might preach Him among the Gentiles.” On the day when Paul met his Lord on the way to Damascus, everything got onto the right track, towards fulfilling his call and destiny.
It does not matter what others thing about you. We are called into service in the body of Christ. Ephesians 2:10 says that G-d prepared some works for you and I to do before the foundation of the world. G-d has called you for His purpose and He has work for you to do in the body of Christ. Are you ready to fulfill your destiny? Are you ready to live up to your call? There is something to be done here and now by you alone. Our congregation will not be one hundred percent effective until you decide to live up to your call. Ask your Maker what your task is in the body of Christ and let’s do it together.
In Him,
Pastor Paul Santos
